Re: final line-ups decided

With Kewell then Benitez made a statement about him a few weeks ago when he said that he had about a month to save his Liverpool career.

The quote was "he definitely has the quality that we want but it's the desire that is the question".

Nobody can doubt his ability but for me he got lazy on that fat contract. The injuries haven't helped but he never did anything for Liverpool before they came about anyway.

A terrible waste of a great talent.

As for the play acting then a former Argentine player (can't remember his name) said after the England game that they needed to get back to that style of persistent fouling, timewasting etc etc.

Hopefully Fifa read the same quotes that I did but even if they did then I wouldn't bet on them being preapred for it or do anything about it.

Maybe Liverpool should hire Roy Keane to Motivate Harry

Worked a treat for an under achieving Man U team against Chelski

The announcement comes less than three weeks after Keane's amazing outburst at his team-mates during an MUTV interview so damning that it was deemed "unbroadcastable".

Sir Alex Ferguson was known to be furious at the timing and verocity of the personal attacks contained within the interview and publicly rebuked his skipper prior to the win over Chelsea on November 6.

The means justify the ends

Personally I think he those the wrong Club beacsue as you say 'the fat pay packet'.Kind of an injustice that he can claim to have played in the winner of the European Champions League while contributing f..all

Let me guess the Argentinian Player would have been Diego Simeone aka Beckhams good mate

No I don't think it was Simeone. It was a former player and I believe a World Cup winner so he stopped playing quite a while back. The name of Jorge Valdano keeps coming back to me but I'm not sure.

As for Kewell then I don't really think it made any difference as to what club he joined. If you lose the desire to want to better yourself then no matter how inspirational your coach/manager is it aint going to work.

The initial desire has to come from within.

I read with some amusement Kewells comments that he was back to his best after the play off. One swallow as they say doesn't make a summer. He has to put together a group of decent performances over 10-12 games to be able to say that and we need to see him at least trying to take his full back on, on the outside instead of just stopping and laying the ball of inside and getting somebody else to do the hard work.

I hope he is back as he has the ability but like other Liverpool fans then we'll believe it when we see it.

Valdano sounds right

Played in that disgrace that was Argentina 1986
Even now they still say the 'hand of god' was excellent because it was so wrong...winnng at all costs...unscrupulous bastards

I said simeone because he was described as the most unscrupulous player in the argentinian team in his day

We'll never know with Kewell what the real problems were

Plenty of players go from being superstars to also rans when they transfer
for a variety of reasons

I'm sure there are a multitude of reasons involved but I find it hard to think its a lack of desire given that up till then Kewell had never won any trophies with anyone at all.Players generally look back on a career and look at the trophies won as to how good their career was

Lets hope he does rediscover his form. Personally I am very sceptical but you never know.

He's already given his first wake-up call by Guss Hiddink leaving him on the bench for the first 33 minutes in the 2nd leg against Uruguay

For someone who has always been a walk up start that would have been a bitter pill to swallow so should serve its purpose

Either perform for your club or risk losing your world cup place should be enough motivation for anyone to spark up

How Liverpool choose to use him is another thing

Maybe swapping with who ever is out left every other game would seem the logical spot but if Crouches scoring woes continue its easy to see him being used up front as a stop gap
