mp3 players/ipod

i am thinking of buying an mp3/ipod can anyone suggest which would be a good buy?
i have heard the ipod's have a bad battery life around one year and the ipod goes in the bin have they sorted this out yet?
i have also looked at various other hdd mp3 brands like sony samsug and zen etc.
but i am at a loss which to go for, i have a buget of ?100

I bought a Creative labs zen jukebox, back in March, and its worked perfectly !

I bought that one as it had its own internal rechargeable battery

I've got a Creative Zen Micro 5GB - its superb.

Got it from Amazon about six months ago.

I see now they do a 8GB photo version (where you can look at your pics), for less money than I paid for my 5GB version !

The 8GB version is ? 180.

They do a 6GB version (non-photo) at ? 140.

The Creative Zen is worth the extra ? 40 if you can afford it.

I've got an Archos Jukebox MultiMedia, 4 years old never had any probs. Look at the current models.

Treat yourself to an ipod. Its a lovley piece of kit. ?100 wont get you one but if you put another ?30-?40 more you can get the new small version "nano"
Ive just got the new big one last month and im well chuffed with it. Ive put almost 5000 songs on it already and its not even half full.
Ive wanted one for ages, i love it!

Is that the Archos one with video as well audio - i am looking at these at the moment and trying to work out if will use it enough to spend ?300-?450 on (currently use mp3 player for gym - but wouldnt mind video in gym (to save looking at time left on!) and to use when working in Amsterdam)

currys have one for 60gb (v560) for ?300 - the av700 has 100gb and 7" screen but porb too big to be "portable"

The one I've got has 20GB, my laptop at the time had 6.....lol.
I've got the digital camera gizmo as well, not that I use it very much.
The Archos is built like a tank compared with the iPod, which has got some major faults like poor battery and screen.
Do a Google for Archos, there's a lot of info on the net.
