Problems work both ways, heard of Sellers who have been paid via paypal, sent off item, Buyer says they have not received it and instigated a chargeback on paypal where they take the money off the Seller who then has to try and claim against the PO. If you do not take out extra insurance they can only claim up to ?30. You do have to rely on Buyers & Sellers being honest so look at feedback.
The so called buying feedback is a farce as you only get 1 feedback rating from each person ie you cannot do a deal with a mate and increase your rating by more than 1. If you want to buy a high priced item and the Seller has a 100% feedback of say 30, look at each item and if the feedback is made up of 30 purchases of small items 0.01 to 0.99 for instance beware. When in doubt copy the item number and go into the forums, paste it and ask advice, lot of experts who can steer you in the right direction.
My only problem is that I wish I had thought of Ebay first, they make money from every item posted, every item then sold and if paypal is used, a cut out of that as well. No storage space to pay for, just an office complex with staff, no doubt a lot of the staff work from home for good measure. They must be raking in a fortune, lucky bastards.

I've read that some conmen prepare a good rep. by selling a lot of cheap items at knockdown prices and getting good feedback. Then they put on the dodgy ones.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?
