Do it the easy way and buy an external USB Hard Disk Drive. Plug it in, off you go.

Re: hardrive capacity
Not as easy as that ... a 6 year old pc will probably have USB 1 and couldn't handle the speed. A usb 2 card would also be required.
Re: hardrive capacity
If you have a standard PC case (largish, rather than a very small case, or a
laptop) it is VERY easy to fit a second hard disk inside the PC case.
You could buy a 40Gb or 80Gb hard dive for 20 or 30 pounds and put it as a
second hard drive.
Anything larger than that might not work in your PC as it is 6 years old.
If the PC still does all you need then this should be enough.
Of course PCs have moved on a lot in six years and you could buy a fairly
nice PC for ?400 with a 17" flat screen, 512Mb of memory, 80Gb hard drive,
and Windows XP. It would probably have a CD writer and maybe even a
DVD writer.
Try the Dell site. Treat yourself for Xmas.

Re: hardrive capacity
At this age 64GB might be the limit without partitioning into two smaller drives - all depends on the BIOS.
Visit Dell...
You wont get better support than Dell, I have Engineers down all the time, you phone up, they dont sort it on the phone, they send an engineer to fix it,the replace parts without batting an eye lid, awesome service...
For ?250-300 u can get a NICE as hell refurb off them, or ?300-500 you can get a nice NEW machine, a little mo
Id say spoil ya self with ?400 and a trip to dell outlet (refurbs, returns, cancelled etc), get 3ghz Pentium 4, 80gb hard drive, 1gb ram, network card, 128mb graphic card, CDRW/DVD Combo, 17 inch screen with a FULL Dell Warrenty.
But you can pic them up for ?250 with 80gb hard drive, 2.4ghz proc, 512mb ram, etc

Re: Visit Dell...
I have to agree with Cenobitez, Dell services are superb, My Family Use Dell PCs and the offers they have double memory and free printer for under 500 notes, bargain. I only wish Dan Computers was still around Their services where legendary.

I 100% agree about getting a new PC, I also have a PC from the last century!!! and a lap top circa 2005 both on wireless broadband. I hate using the PC sooooo slow, I find I am using the laptop all the time. You won't regret going for a new one.

Look on the Dell site
They're currently selling the Dimension 3100 (3.06Gh) for about ?211 including vat and delivery - just take their Standard Warranty (1-Year Collect and Return service). It comes with lan/dvd rom cdrw/80GB/XP-Pro - You could add a dvd writer yourself for about ?35.
I'm tempted to buy one as a backup at that price.
