or more likely all incoming emails are graded
We all know call centres/back office departments are undermanned
so all emails/phone calls are graded before being dealt with
So yes your right the more assertive(not aggressive)your email is the more likely it is yo being responded to quickly
I find working the Industry Ombudsman into an email/letter/phone call gets an immediate response
Far to many people are passive when it comes to problems and tend to just move to another competitor to avoid the conflict
State what you want and what you will do if you don't get it
including telling all your friends about your unfortunate experience
cheers

I have had this with paypal they restrict my account for what they call recieving payment for adult goods and will be holding my money for 180 days but when i email them back threatning to commence bankruptcy proceedings their reply is much nicer and allowing me instant access to my money.

Thats what I call being assertive
Reminds me of the scene in stir crazy where the short taxi driver is trying to get his fare from a tall obnxious dude in stir crazy...
Only when he has the taller guys balls in a vice like grip(you could tell it was vice like by the little beads of sweat running donw his face)with a nutcracker does the taller guy agree to pay up
gene wilder was the referee and every one went home happy...a win win situation...the hsort guy got his mney and the tall guy kept his balls
cheers

Re: Being Polite Gets You Nowhere
It's true. I bought some faulty computer equipment from an online company based up in Bolton. They refused to refund me. I asked for credit with them, they still refused, I threatened legal action both on the phone and via email, they refused. I even sent a letter recorded delivery telling them that this was their last chance, still they refused to give me my refund. They held their ground until they recieved notification from the courts that I had in fact started legal proceedings against them. Within a week (this whole thing had been going on for 6 months up until this point) I was given a full refund.

Lets see if it works the other way, i have just recieved a letter from one of these private car park firms stating i owe them ?70.00 for overstaying my time they have obviousley got my details from swansea, i will not be paying it, anyone can send bills to anyone if you are stupid enough tp pay them that is up to you so if they wish to continue with this demand they will have to take it to court and i am quite prepared to see them there.

This whole thing about grading the emails...Maybe the person they pay to grade the emails should just be trained up in how to solve the problems.
Might help!

Well then, Tequila, bugger temping in offices- you should be a troubleshooter!
When you go for interview, is it ever on the back of your mind that your interviewer may recognise you? Just asking, it must be a wee bitty bizarre for you doing the ol' 9 to 5!
Best of luck anyhow in your job search, if you haven't landed a position already.
I would love to have you working in my orifice! *groan*

Re: Being Polite Gets You Nowhere
When writing, intersperse the following three phrases throughout your letter:
"....tantamount to total scandal....."
".....amateurish in the extreme.........."
".......with good reason to take my custom elsewhere......."
Instant reply.
Now that's magic!
