Why would people buy my stuff when they already know that Uncle Ben has a new film due out?
perhaps becuase after watching dear old unle ben for the best part of a decade they are in the mood for something new??

I personally think you should go for it. Its in the interests of those already in the business to disuade possible future competition! so I wouldnt take their comments to heart too much. I mean if you told your local Harry Ramsdens you was opening a chip shop opposite I dare say they'd tell you not to bother as well "far too much bother guv..save ya money! etc"
If you have belief determination and make a good product, and more importantly an original product, I dont care what anyone says with a little bit of determination and a lot of hard work you can go far. Ok you might have to take a few knocks on the chin in the early days, probably even cover losses for a while, but all business starts out this way, those who succeed are those who persevere and don't become easily discouraged and give up at the first hurdle.
Ok you might'nt ever get rich but you get to shoot gorgeous girls with no clothes on, day in day out, and I could think of worse ways of losing my money! If youre gonna go broke go broke with a smile on your face
