Yep, good album.

Substance by Joy Division is even better, IMHO.

I used to play The Who's Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy to death. Now that was a superb LP. It had all their singles from the 60s on it. Fantastic. Rolled Gold by the Stones - double vinyl LP. ?4.99 Yanks, Off Oxford Road, Manchester. Excellent compilation and record shop!

Thinking about it, I'll chuck ABBA into the equation... commercial, yes I know, but timeless and it mostly stand up now better than ever....
I'm not talking about ABBA Gold, the cd available since 1992 which has too many tracks missing to be definitive, but the original 1976 "Greatest Hits" and 1979's "Greatest Hits volume 2". Again, like Queen, every household had a copy. The first album is essential because it neatly wraps up the early formative stuff without any of the embarrassing stuff from their first 3 LP's (the 3rd of which was actually pretty good) which was why, whilst loads of people had "Arrival", not many bothered with the "waterloo" lp. They weren't all hits, but most could of been and should have been. The second volume, covering 1976 "Dancing Queen" through to 1979 "Gimme Gimme Gimme", covered the platinum years when every single was a gem and also covers album tracks that were singles in other countries like "Eagle" and "Rock Me".... strangely, neither were ever issued on cd which is a shame.
They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?
