So what do the rest of you think about the Ashes tickets debate going on at the moment.
Do you think the Aussies are right to limit the tickets, is it unfair or perhaps you don't care.
Any comments.

Re: Ashes Tickets
Typical is all I will say
When something becomes popular all the elite(wether they follow that sport or not make sure they get a ticket)because its the place to be seen
Forget about stopping the chavs from breeding
Start with the elite 'brown nosing gold digging' upwardly mobile yuppies that care little for anything other than being seen at the right events
2000 tickets reserved in one stand for the Barmy Army out of 20,000 at the Adelaide Oval is just silly.Should be more in the order of 5,000 to 10,000 IMHO
Even blind freddy can see there are huge economic gains to be made
by doing as such
Once again our welcome to australia sign has been left behind the toilet
cheers

Re: Ashes Tickets
The Aussies are concerned that there's going to be an invasion of english fans for this years Ashes (on their own soil) and that english fans are going to outnumber there own hence they are going to limit the number of tickets available to those who don't have australian addresses and keeping the tickets for home fans.
here's astory in the times
It's not the most balanced view of it but I couldn't find the story on the BBC's website.

Re: Ashes Tickets
That's quite a similar view to the one that I have Buttsie.
I have been to two Ashes series in Australia in 90-91 and 94-95 and they didn't turn us away then, more that they were bloody grateful for our support as the home crowds didn't turn out in force at all.
In 90-91 I was at the Gabba and at least 50% of the crowd were english on all days and it was not sold out. I can remember in the same series on the 4th day of the Melbourne Test a 16,000 crowd and at least (and I mean at least) 10,000 of those were english.
Sure the popularity has grown and the aussies must make sure that plenty of home fans get in but I think they've got a bit paranoid about it.
I also agree with what you said about the economic side of things as when england play in the West Indies then they have the Barbados Test conincide with Easter and over 50% of the tickets get snapped up by the barmy army.
The Bajan's (on the whole) don't moan. They are grateful for the tourist money that goes into the local economy.
There has to be a balance but I think CA has gone a bit too far.

Re: Ashes Tickets
The sting in the tail will be if the Aussies do what you did to us
Then the home fans will most likely go,its not worth the bother of seeing it live at the ground and all those tourists left out in the cold will be back in the UK watching it on the TV
All this waffle about to many opposing fans being an influence on the outcome is laughable.
A big vocal supporter base won't help you make that century of take that five for but some seem to believe that they do-idiots
cheers

Re: Ashes Tickets
It happens here as well mate.
Pakistan are here this summer and the last time they came there were masses of Pakistani supporters at the games, particularly the one dayers. Granted most of them were born here but they were supporting their "home country".
That will happen for sure again this summer but lets hope that we don't get the same crowd trouble as last time.

Re: Ashes Tickets
Our equivalent is about to raise its ugly head
Australia v Lebanon in the Asian Cup
One lebanese youth just got sentenced to 3 months jail for burning the Australian Flag during the recent race riots in Sydney
Not sure getting a 3 month education inside will solve the issue of why he diid it,which I might add he's never divulged
cheers

Re: Ashes Tickets
So they are frightened of losing the Ashes again but this time on their own soil? Thought cricket was a gentleman's game.
