They already do - at the recent ICANN conference the United States of Warmongers kept the job of running the 13 Primary Servers.

They are the most corrupt evil regime in the world. In their bid to keep us all in awe of their amazing powers they are trying to control everything. Pornography will just be the tip of the iceberg, the excuse they need to unlock the treasure chest.
