Life On Mars - Show Concept

Post by dynatech »

The show seems to be getting better, genuinely entertaining and pretty well written, depsite a few slip-ups for the anoraks to spot (i.e. An Allegro mk3 panda car masquerading as a 73 L-reg series 1).
The concept though rather far-fetched is superb, how many of us have wished at some point to be able to go back in time and walk down the streets and see the sights you will have seen back then.
Question is, how many of us would realistically want to back to another period in their lives? I was born in 73 so the 70's represent for me a time were my memories are mostly hazy and rose-coloured and I am well aware that for many it was a particularly dark unsettling time, but I would love to go back.
In many ways we have "never had it so good" (cheap technology, internet etc etc) and I am no manic depressive but in many ways I would take the past over the future.
They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

VAT was going to destroy all small businesses, and all the time would be taking calculating it (well, so business people said).

The Heath government on collision course with the unions.

Glam rock at its height.

I'd like to think that any visit to 1973 by me would include social calls on Fred West, Peter Sutcliffe, Robert Black and others, to ensure they didn't commit their awful crimes. Perhaps a word or two with people at the Foreign Office with hints as to which dictators not to give help to.

Life On Mars is superb. Great concept, and great acting (occasional slip, like a disabled parking space last night, doesn't get in the way). Having someone like Sim as the lead makes you able to believe in it.

I'd just like to make the huge fortune available by 'gambling' on all the horse racing, football results etc that were already decided.

How are they going to make a second series? My guess is this will end on a cliffhanger ("charge 350 joules, clear!") leaving all options open. having him recover and fall into another coma later would just be too much.
We have need of you again, great king.

Suspention of disbelief bud.

They say your mind would believe an asteroid the size of texas hitting the planet would kill all life on it, when in reality it prob smash the planet to bits, not cause a nuclear winter, yet you wouldnt believe one the size of a house would kill massive amounts of the planet.

You will believe the impossible but NOT improbable, something about your imagination not kicking in until a certain point, so as long as its believable your imagination says in the closet.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

VAT didn't destroy small business. Which is now the current bastards are trying their best by strangling employers with regulations!

I was talking about the headlines at the time. The fall of western civilisation as we know it was being predicted by the business community with the arrival of VAT.
