Arsenal v Real Madrid

Post by Ace »

Yes, well worth mentioning The Gooners excellent performance away from North London.
Admittedly, if my beloved Chelsea do get beat next week, I will still want an English team to win the final............yes, even fucking Liverpool. After all, you have to support ANY English team in the final.
Hope that clears that up Marino !wink!

Arsenal isn't an English team.

They beat an antiquated Spanish team in decline. Good result, rather than monumental, and good only because the Arse is a side in transition. The Arse of two seasons' ago would have buried this Real team.

How can you still be in love with CFC? More hollow than Tony Bliar. Seriously, all my mates who are Chelsea hate what's happened. Most of them seem to find the winning meaningless this season.

Now if you want an exciting, truly English side to cheer on in Europe, look no further than Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. A team built with vision, stuffed full of young, English talent and improving steadily. It's been a long time coming but that makes it all the more sweet. Next season we'll be back where we belong: on the European stage. COYS!

If you refer to my earlier post from The Special One Needs thread, you will see that I do dislike what has happened at The Bridge these past few seasons where real fans can fuck off unless they have money or sponsorship. Go to the official Chelsea FC forum, MANY like-minded fans like me post their pissed off views. I am no different. Fuck, I remember the days of Mickey Droy and the REAL Shed End!! Its not about what Gullit started 10 years ago for me!!!
As for Spurs? Nice to see them in the top six..........do you fancy Jol to stay after Holland come calling after Germany 2006??

No, you're bang on the money Ace. My biggest nightmare, after the thought that one day Lorna Lace won't make any more porn, is that Jol will bugger off to the Dutch national side. I think it's inevitable, but I'm going to enjoy Spurs while I can. A decade of being a laughing stock is hard to take when you can still remember great Spurs' sides.

I remember the REAL Shed too. The noise coming out of that place! Bit like our own Shelf...before we had to sit down. That's what depresses me about CFC. It's unreal. There was always healthy needle between you lot and us lot, as with the Goons. I enjoyed it. London teams. There was a kind of shared culture. We all had our ups and downs, but you had to wait for them. Now with the Arse completely Europeanised, and CFC this strange mutant-cash-monster, there aren't any London clubs to rub along with. (I don't count WHam, Charlton or Fulham). I've got massive respect for both Mourinho and Wenger as managers but I hate what's happened to the clubs they manage. That's partly why I'm so happy that Spurs has a good balance between English and international talent. It still feels like the club I cheered for in the Schoolboys' Enclosure. Great times... and more ahead.

And the only two English players at the start of the match? Beckham and Woodgate.

Micky Droy - the man who made Jaws in the Bond films look like a fucking wimp. And he was handsome compared to Droy too. :)

I can remeber Mickey Droy and I totally agree with Ned's comments. God he was a scary bloke hard as nails from what I can remember!!!

That was when football was a man's game not like a lot of these diving disloyal prima donas of the modern generation of footballers (but not all are I hasten to add) and when the referees werent household names and didnt need to employ an agent as the best referees arent the centre of the action and do not grab the headlines!!!!

I went to the Bridge to watch Liverpool years ago. Souness was our manager and I believe Robbie Fowler made his full debut in that game as did Julian Dicks.

Neil Shipperley was credited with the winner but Grobelaar puched it in the net in my opinion. He probably bet the home win.

Oh and for people who get nostalgic about standing and the old grounds then I was in the away end which was uncovered and it pissed down. I got soaked to the skin and got the flu as a result.
