Peter Osgood RIP

Post by Ace »

At 59!!!!! I never saw Ossie the first time round at The Bridge, but did see him (past his best) when he returned after his stint with Southampton. A legend, and forever immortalised in The Italian Job where 'Osgood is Good' sprayed on the camper van.

And I don't want any smart arse comments, infact, a minutes silence at tonights England game for Ron Greenwood and Peter Osgood is what any fan should expect

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Peter Osgood retired just before I started going to matches but from the reports I have seen on Sky Sports News he was really well thought of both as a man and a player and therefore big respect from me.

I was amazed to see he only got 4 caps for England that is shocking!!!!

No smart arse comments from here. The man was great.

God, the glory days of that team---the Charlie Cookes and Peter Bonettis, not to mention Chopper Harris.

i believe that is now 3 of the chelsea forward/midfield players of that era who have died before their time. Houseman and Hutchinson were the others.

Well, I certainly hope Ken (master) Bates hangs his head in shame after 'sacking' Ossie who earned a paltry ?200 per game entertaining hospitality guests in the poncey 'exclusive' boxes.
Bates wanted a cost cutting exercise, and felt saving ?200 per week was a good move.......despite some 'carthorse' under-achieving players we had on the books earning ?15k per week.

Great footballer but no doubt we will suffer the florists rubbing there hands as everyone buys flowers to rot away at the gates. Much prefer a fund set up to teach football to youngsters and get them off the streets, Sure Ossie would like that.
Great games the 2 Leeds finals, don't make players likre that now.

Two years on,the legend still lives, and will NEVER be forgotten

The Shed is locked up as we see a great star
Putting goals past Pat Jennings from near and afar
And Chelsea won,as we all know they would
And the star of that great team was Peter Osgood

Osgood,Osgood
Osgood,Osgood
Born is the King of Stamford Bridge
