V for Vendetta

Post by Louise Hodges »

Hi guys

I went to the premiere of this new film the other day from the Wachowski Brothers who did the Matrix films. There used to be a guy called Terry May who used to post fantastic reviews on here but he doesn't seem to have posted any reviews for a long time unfortunately. So I won't spoil it for anyone who is going to see it when it opens.

Anyway I got a programme/productions notes and invite if anyone would like to order it from me.

Love

But did you think it was a good film, Louise? I quite fancy it, but good word of mouth would help.

Frankly no - I can well see Daily Mail fropthing at the mouth about its glorification and justification of terrorism as a means to an worthwhile end especially as the climax sees the blowing up of the houses of Parliament as something to be celebrated.

It's also too long.

Despite that there are a few valid moral points to be pondered (power of state controlled media, is terrorism ever justifiable? how strong is the human spirit against seemingly indomitable oppression etc etc) but frankly by the end I just wanted to get to the after show party!!

Fair enough. Cheers, Louise. Much appreciated. Hope the party didn't disappoint.

After last summer, a film with a terrorist hero blowing up British landmarks was always going to be a hard sell.

Louise,

Thought the London West End premiere was this Wednesday in Leicester Square with both Portman and Weaving attending.
