Are you talking about the US series set in Florida?
Down here its on immediately after "Lost", on the same channel.
Thats what I call dumb scheduling.

Sadly it's been censored somewhat on C4... I've seen some of the episodes on DVD and it's a little more gruesome.

Last week's episode, however, was farcical... the police officer who's arm has regrown is left alone by his boss with a chainsaw and the idea implanted that he should cut his arm off as it had been previously.

Given you have to hold the throttle with one hand and a "dead man's handle" with the other, just how is he supposed to do that?

I agree Bob. I've been watching and enjoying Invasion, but you do have to wince at some of the plot... if you ignore the plan silliness of it, it's good, entertaining stuff.

It's about time we had some quality sci-fi programs coming out of the States! Invasion, Lost, Threshold, Surface, Battlestar Galactica all good programs worth watching. Lets hope none of them start to fall off and go for the stupid story route!

I didn't see Surface, but I long ago gave up on Battlestar Galactica and thought Threshold showed promise but ended up largely disappointing. Both Lost and Invasion suffer from silliness (such as the chainsaw scene in Invasion I mentioned earlier).

If science fiction stories are to be "believeable" the "fiction" part MUST be supported by the "real" being real. Too much American Sci-Fi falls at this, the easiest of hurdles!

I'd love to see really well made TV or film productions of some John Wyndham novels... I remember a BBC production of Day of the Triffids in about 1980 which, although no great shakes, was far more faithful to the book than the 1963 film starring Howard Keele.

JW wrote some brilliant stories years ahead of their time (read "The Trouble with Lichen" for example... an antidote to ageing is discovered and we see how society is trying to cope with all the changes that ensue... and that was written in the mid 50's but not published until about 1960/61) which would be ripe for the small or big screen.

Hi Jeff,

I've stuck with Invasion since Episode 1. The first half dozen episodes were okay but recently it's gone up a gear and become quite good.

Surface is pretty good considering that ITV2 show it around 7 in the evening. I thought it was a poor man's Godzilla but it's not too bad. I find Battlestar can be very entertaining IF you can forgive it for it's religious overtones! I like the fact that the US is trying to "grow up" in terms of it's Sci-fi output something that should have happened a long time ago (during the height of the X files!)

I totally agree with you Bob - you can't beat a good bit of "home grown" sci-fi. The New Dr Who is turning into something that can only get better. I have high hopes for the new Tanglewood series that's in developement at the moment by the Who crew, they've stated it's more darker and "adult" then the Dr so we shall wait and see....
