Inheritance Tax

Post by eroticartist »

Death duties apply on all estates over ?750,000. I always thought that no-one would ever dare to impose 40 per cent "inheritance tax"on the modest family home. The refusal of Gordon Brown to adjust for imflation means that the children of the thrifty parents who own domestic proterty will not able to keep the family homes, bequeathed to them by their parents. Instead they will be forced to sell the family home and get a mortgage!

Our streets are lined with estate agents as evidence of this immoral fleecing of thedead even as we mourn them.
Gordon Brown should change this iniquitious law or lose the next election.

Not only that but the continual increase in house prices mean that they keep moving into the next Council Tax Band. And then we are all told that revenue raised is not enough and the Council Tax needs to go up 4% at a time when they are getting more money than ever!!!!

Hi Vonboy,

Sorry I should have said ?275! Thank you for correcting me.

?750,000 is what it should be but no-one should lose their family home.

What's so outrageous about this, is that all those who work and save their whole lives to own their homes, paying income tax the entire time, are being taxed, after death, on income they've managed to save. The state's had its bite. It shouldn't get another unless the estate is a million or so.

If your kids aren't going to benefit from your labour why the fuck should you bother to plough your money into you property when the state's going to take most of it? Where's the incentive to become a 'stakeholder' to use Bliar's terminology?

This tax is also known as a voluntary tax...... who the hell volunteers to pay tax. But there are many ways to legally reduces the families exposure to this tax. It is just a matter of a family being able to discuss this sort of thing and to seek professional advice.

Council Tax up, Gas & Electric up, Water up (if there's any left), Inheretence tax. It's RIP-OFF Britain again. Funny how you never ever hear about anyones wages going up 25% isn't it. Except Company Executives pay-offs of course. Fuckin rip wank on the knob country - this.

Steve,
