The most annoying thing about it is that it doesn't have to be this way but lazy arse wipes let it.

The really sad thing is that this problem will get worse, not better.

!furious!

"Booze Culture"

Post by dynatech »

Why doesn't anyone connect this so-called UK "Booze Culture" with the underlying trends in the UK? It is not just about discipline or good parenting, it is about direction. Realistically, what real aims and direction do the majority of young people leaving school have today?? Whether the Govt will admit it or not, we are in the grip of a massive recession in real terms and now all the multi-nationals are exporting even the chavvy unskilled jobs to cheaper shores. There are few decent jobs with any sort of future, and many of those that are (teaching etc) are blighted by considerable legislation, and who knows what the hell will be the case with pensions in 30/40 years time. All the kids I know in their early 20's are just floating along spending their wages going out, there is very little of "looking to the future" because the future now is so uncertain. Women are conditioned to want babies, but what for? What kind of future can people offer their kids if they can't see what their own is? This is why I believe hedonism and irresponsibilty is so rife - these existationist problems are no longer just the concern of the chav classes, they concern most born without a silver spoon including those who have been shunted through university for no real reason other than "to get "a" degree"

Just because people have a problem doesn't give them an excuse to cause misery for others.

Maybe so, Andy. But the fact remains that we are sat on a huge timebomb, not only financially but culturally. I'm not making excuses for people but it is widespread and is so intense I cannot see how it can be reversed. You can throw laws at people, as they have been doing for years, but unless people have a reason for being (a genuine reason at that, not a phony one) that it's gonna be one hell of a job to get people off the path of self-destruction.

Sorry but there is no maybe about it dynatech.

There is no excuse to getting pissed and bringing misery to others.

Most of us like a drink and most of us even like getting sozzled but there is no justification in acting like a moron in a way that affects someone else.

If there is a financial time bomb wasting money getting drunk when it can't be afforded is completely stupid.

The cultural time bomb on exists because society lets it.

The only reason why throwing laws at people isn't working is because authorities let it happen.

The 1998 Crime and Disorder act had sufficient tools to deal with people who think they can get away with bulling their community - I know because I used it to stop little thugs from causing mayhem were my parents live.

Subsequent amendments gave even greater tools to deal with issues.

Unfortunately in a lot of cases the authorities only part use them, if they use them at all or the legal system fails to protect and the people causing the problems get away with it.

It's the getting away with it that creates the cultural time bomb, in my view. It's something that simply shouldn't happen and wouldn't in my opinion if people in authority actually did the job properly.
