Thanks for the good words i am at this moment trying to do a mix of some of my material and have just purchased a new dvd writer it burns ok and the disk playback ok on my computer but not on my dvd player even after finalizing but once i get it sorted i will have some homemade compilations available anyone got any ideas how to sort this problem,thanks.

What discs and burner are you using?

Hi Jacques, im using a LaCie DVD+/- RW drive and i have burnt to both formats on 4.7gb data write once and RW disk they playback ok on my comp but not on my dvd player so maybe my player is not reading the format but it reads just about every other disk i have ever played on it, thanks.

Aha!! There is a known problem of playback using some LaCie burners if burnt with Nero (like so many other's).

So next question, are you using Nero to burn? If so try another program or look for a firmware upgrade (look at NEC or Pioneer sites, as you will have bought basically a rebaged one of these, if LaCie is of no use)

And do the discs work in another dvd player?

Jacques, thanks for your help im using the software that came with it to burn (Roxio Drag To Disk) i have been to their help site wich of course is just another comp but it seems to suggest that it is the disk i am using, trouble with that my dvd player is also a recorder and i have recorded loads of stuff with it using these same disk and they always playback its just the stuff im burning from the comp that wont play, this is an external usb drive if that makes any difference,thanks.

In that case I would suggest trying a different disc when burning from your PC. Believe it or not, not all discs are compatible with various burners. My burner hates Rivision and Datawrite Yellow but loves Datawrite Reds (which everyone seems to hate) and Optima and behaves like its just seen Lolly Badcock weilding a dildo when I feed it Sony's. Never had a problem with Intenso but never been able to burn Bulkpaq.

So this could be your problem as you don't have the Nero issue.

I'll see if I can find anything else out about roxio but suspect it may be the above.

Hi Jacques, yes i agree it probably is the disk only thing is i also have a pioneer stand alone copier and this copies the disk that i have burnt with the LaCie writer no problem but again these will only playback on my comp not on my dvd player wheras every thing else i copy on the pioneer plays back on the dvd player ok so it could just be that my player is just not reading the disk from the LaCie but the pioneer is, and dont laugh but my dvd player is a Liteon!sad! anyway thanks for your help.
