Most embarrasing TV moment you've seen

Post by Mysteryman »

For me it was in the mid 1990s (around 1996) when Jill Dando was on BBC Breakfast TV.

She was doing a summer outside broadcast segment and the presenter in the studio (can't remember who) did a hand over which went something like...

"Now over to Jan Dildo in the sunshine in....."

I thought I'd misheard but my wife heard it too and, when I got to work so had a good number of other people.

Attention Mods,

"Why is the UK so full of dickheads" thread.

This thread has descended into personal & offensive abuse, time to close & delete the thread & issue warnings to the main protagonists as to their behaviour on forum.

Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood doing the Brit Awards in 1989 was pretty dire, as I recall.

I think that after that fiasco, they stopped transmitting it live.

... and let's not forget our piss-poor performance at Eurovision three years ago, with that duo Jemini singing hopelessly out of tune and coming away with a much-deserved "null poins"!!!

Peter Powell on Top Of The Pops! What a cheesy man
They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

... speaking of Eurovision is it just my imagination but has this gone the way of most recent pop acts and everyone mimes to their tracks instead of singing live?? I also noticed that Star's In Their Eyes has definately gone down the same route with acts recording their efforts long before they appear on stage and it seems to be left to who can dance and act the best, not who is the most talented singer and who can pull it off on the night, most of these programmes seem now to be going against the grain of what they were founded for.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that in the actual Eurovision finals, the acts all sing live. In the UK at least though, on the programmes held to find our finalist the acts may well mine. I seem to recall reading that somewhere.

Jemini certainly sang live in 2003 - it was that bad!!! And judging from one or two other iffy performances in recent years, I doubt very much that they were mimed either.
