Hey everyone,
I am coming to London soon, and plan to do a bit shopping in the many soho sex shops.
I was wondering if any of the shops do a trade in deal, where you can exchange used porn DVDs to get a reduction in the price of buying new DVDs????
Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.
Plus, has anyone ever been to the porn cinema(s) in soho? Is it/are they any good, or should it/they be avoided at all costs?
cheers!

Re: Question about soho sex shops....
Thanks for the info!
If you suggest I "force" myself to shop around all those sex shops, I might just have to!!! Last time I was in Soho, I actually met and got a pic taken with the lovely Cathy Barry - wonder if any other pornstars will be there this time! Oh, it's a hard life...!
Cheers,

Re: Question about soho sex shops....
Thanks guys
Is the trade in serviced well-known/advertised, or do you need to ask the staff about it in the various shops?
Last time I was there (about a year ago) I can't remember seeing anything about trade ins in any of the sex shops.
cheers

Re: Question about soho sex shops....
you just go in the shop with your dvds, provided they're still in their boxes, in good condition. Choose the DVDs you want then ask the guy at the counter "can I exchange this DVD for this DVD?"
its not rocket science.

In the Harmony shops they always tell you about it when you buy DVDs.

I know, Owl. My experience (and reaction) was similar to yours when I returned there a few years back. Yet another example of "rip-off Britain".
It beats me how these shops manage to do any trade at all, especially when people can buy online for less than half the prices they charge. They certainly don't deserve to and I wouldn't buy from these piss-takers on principle.
But then Soho has always been THE place to get ripped off: I recall back in the '80s (long before the Internet came along and when hardcore porn was totally illegal) they used to sell plain, boring old contact mags remounted inside the cover of a hardcore mag (often Color Climax), shrink wrap them so that you couldn't open them up, then put them out to sell as "hardcore porn" at a ridiculous price.
Punters would then part with their hard-earned and rush eagerly home with their "porn" in their sweathy, trembling mitts - only to be massively disappointed when they opened it, realising that they'd been taken to the cleaners. I know - it happened to me once (but it was a lesson learned). And of course who's going to go back and complain? Very few people, I'd wager!
Later on (late '80s), you could occasionally find in Soho stores heavily censored actual hardcore mags with big red stars or black dots blotting out the hard-ons and penetrated pussies - and once again the asking prices were astronomical.
So to me personally, Soho has always been synonymous with seediness and sharp practices - the place to get ripped off. And things don't seem to have changed much in the intervening 20-odd years either.

Ditto the sex / strip clubs - unless you have good money to throw away.
