England v Equador

Post by mrmcfister »

Hope I'm wrong but I've got a funny feeling about this. It's due to be very hot,England are favourites, they're playing South Americans, the 'fans' are playing up,England haven't done themselves justice yet,Owen gone, etc etc....

Hey ho boys and girls ...fingers crossed for the lads!

... but look on the bright side... England have never lost in the knock-out stages to a country who havn't previously won the World Cup.

Neither Equador nor Holland/Portugal (the next opponents) are past winners, so we're definately through to the semis at least!!! !grin!

... and another thing...

While they are no longer at that club, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick all played together at West Ham.

The last time so many players from West Ham were in an England team, we won the World Cup.

Given they are no longer West ham players, does that mean we'll get to the final, but lose? Sorry, confusing myself now! !hmmm!

Looks like Erriksson's listened to me as it looks like he's trying a 4-1-4-1 formation. I even named the team correctly too. (apart from Neville not being back in time & Carrick coming in)

Here:

It will be a hard game cos of the friggin heat, but we'll win!

Hard to say how it will turn out---Ecuador are a relatively unknown quantity. They've played well so far, but could just lie down here in shock. Mexico's approach yesterday should be a warning, though.

Oh, and something you cannot plan ahead for---the referee. Sweden had a man wrongly sent off; Argentina had one yellow-carded when he should have sene red. The standard of refereeing so far has been bad, so expect some more head-scratching this afternoon. May the best team win---and not the one given an unfair advantage by a bungling (or corrupt?) official.

I wouldn't get too big headed... EVERYONE could have predicted the line up given the fully fit players left from the original 23!

Jesus Bob! Twas all in good humour. It's not my fault you were well off the mark is it? !laugh! !laugh! !laugh!

No one else predicted the formation on the forum, so I'm claiming it as my idea 100%! Let me have my 15 mins will you?!

Now I'm off to give Nancy one! !laugh!
