Totally O/T, but she IS a Brit......

Post by jj »

Is Keeley Hawes the most inarticulate, wooden, microscopically-talented actress of her generation?
And is 'Spooks' the most cliched Beeb production yet?
[These are probably rhetorical questions..........]

Probably not, that title is hotly contested nowadays by most of the participants in all those shit American teen movies, which is pretty much every American movie nowadays - you know, the ones with the 4 or 5 twentysomethings on the box covers that stare at you from every shelf of any contemporary video store.

But don't forget all those infinitely irritating tossers on those 'Big Brother' 'Castaway' and ?Pop idol? type programs and almost everyone in a teen 'girl band.'

Banish them all back to the minds of the money grabbing
media marketing suits from whence they were spawned!

'Spooks' is deliberately clich?d and dreamt up by the afor
mentioned media marketing men to appeal to the 18 - 30 generation. If I were still in that age range I'd be outraged (hey, I am anyway) that some patronising fuckers were sitting in programming meetings discussing how best to press my buttons and get me to jump through their hoops - and buy a shit product that has almost no intellectually nourishing content! Is art dead, or just dormant?

We'll take that as a "Yes", then!

110% yes: I ought to feel ashamed, but I have NEVER, EVER seen Survivor/BB/Poptarts/whatever, any of those 'reality' shows.
Or those garden/house/thingies.
Reith must be spinning in his grave.
I think the classic comment was "television? no good will come of it: why, the word's half-Greek and half-Latin",.........and the fact that very few people realise this may be half the problem.
Rant over: has Reb J got the best bum in the biz, or what? (that's the way to not get deleted for O/T-ness; I'm so sneaky I could give birth to sneakers, and have even been known sedulously to slide across the silvery Saharan sands.....sorry, I've run out of alliteration)

Brief, and to the point.
I expected nothing less from a man of your calibre.

Um, I probably shouldn't admit this but some of 'Spooks' was shot in one of the penthouses in my apartment building. So now I tune in every Monday like a saddun waiting to see where I live.

Does this mean it's now on topic? God I hope not.

Cheers,

Big Jim

I blame ITV and the she-devil that is Cilla Black. Until Bland Date came along and sucked out everyone's brains, no one would have stood for the dreadful cack masquerading as "entertainment" churned out by the main channels. Cilla is the offspring of Edmonds and Mr Blobby. Why:

BB/Survivors/Pop Idle?

Audiences applauding numbers during the lottery draws?!?

That no-talent gimboid Barrymore?

If the BBC dumbs down any more it'll be able to change its name to ITV.

Oh, and to keep this on-topic, isn't Andrea Spinks gorgeous?

Downunder we call TV the idiotic Box and with good reason.

The only half decent shows are the likes of Parkinson when he interviews the likes of Billy Connolly and Alli G.

By the way Nadia/Andrea Spinks should have her own show.
