"travellers" + speed tickets

Post by Von Boy »

Just got another speeding ticket from the bloody speed cameras on the m25, racing to Heathrow at 5 in the morning......which made me think.....................

How do these travellers get their speed tickets issued etc.........what is their address when they collect their new shogun, bmw, mercedes etc. I asked a highly trained, highly paid, highly skilled law enforcer (aka a police constable) at the local gym but he didn't have a clue.........anyone answer this ???

!confused!

Good point. I've no idea.

I know the police do checks when they can be bothered when travellers gather up here for events but I've only read about them being done for no tax etc perhaps they check then?

It is not only travellers who avoid speed tickets and speed tickets are not the main concern. Drivers whose vehicles are not properly registered can escape far more serious offences e.g. causing death by dangerous driving.
The problem, I believe, is the way we register vehicles. A far better system would be to register the owner not the vehicle. When you buy your first vehicle you are allocated a registration plate and that remains with you for the rest of your life. The system can easily be adapted for multi vehicle owners and companies. It may not be perfect but it is better than what we have now.

The last time they moved onto the local playing field, I walked my dog (didn't know they had moved in) and couldn't see any tax discs on their cars. No sign of the police checking them during the week they spent polluting the area, lot easier to keep track of Joe Public who is on record and doesn't give them any aggro.

i agree with all comments above but in the words of the Jam's Going Underground

"the public gets what the public wants"

This is a society that WE ALL created and want !!! otherwise there would be protests, marches in the streets and riots !

Oh yes, brave lads. Clean up the neighbourhood, dispensing summary justice vigilante style. "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets" Sounds familiar?

Of course Dibble's beloved Guardian readers will accuse you of being illiterate, fascistoid pond-life no better than those you are criticising. Just remember, sticks and stones may hurt my bones...
