I wonder if the boys and girls in westminister have looked at the history of Afghanistan ?????
The british army, along with any other occupying force will get their arses kicked out of that country, dragging their dead with them...............
No wonder recruitment for the british army is at an all time low
"when will they ever learn"
!sad!
another soldier dead - Afghanistan
another soldier dead - Afghanistan
Proud to be Von Boy
Re: another soldier dead - Afghanistan
Some truth in that, they kicked the British out at least three times - just google Doctor Brydon.
OTOH whether we should leave the country at the mercy of the Taliban and Al Qaeda is a difficult call. Most Afghans don't want them but unsurprisingly they're not too keen on the Americans either, especially when both groups pressure and humiliate villagers who are just trying to survive.
The Europeans have had better success till now, albeit in the North and Kabul area rather than around Kandahar. But if the reconstruction doesn't speed up - i.e. the world community actually deliver on their promises - then things could get even worse, with foreseeable results. The superpowers fought their proxy wars there, the neighbours all wanted a piece of the cake - the Afghans can justifiably look at the rest of the world with scepticism.
