Parkinson for the most part is just re-hashing the same tired old interviews he did years ago. Even more than when in its prime the show is just a plug for those with something to sell. In fact, in that respect it's almost as bad as ITV's "An Audience With...." shows (Lulu? Oh she has an album out), but less forgiveable on the BBC.

bbc 1 may be dumbing down but if you still crave something of substance and have access to sky, check out bbc 4 - it seems to feature fantastic documentaries nearly every night.

if the one on kissinger comes around again, set the vcr - it's riveting stuff. the man is a bona fide war criminal and if there was ever any doubt, this programme is prima facie evidence for the prosecution.

also a lot of excellent world cup themed docus too, at the mo. there is good programming out there but you've just got forget about finding any of it on the terrestrial rust buckets of old.

Hmmm, afraid it's another point of principle with me, Woodgnome: Sutcliffe is more likely to see my money than the Dirty Digger.

Great moments of the 20th century though: for ordering the bombing of Cambodia, thus helping bring in the Khmer Rouge and years of unimaginable horror for the Cambodian people, Kissinger gets---the Nobel peace Prize!

fear not! you can now enjoy bbc 4 AND keep your precious principles intact... the bbc has joined forces with digital set top box manufacturers, to provide an affordable alternative to accessing the digital revolution without lining uncle rupert's pockets in the process!

the new boxes allow you to receive all the free to air channels on your glass teat and the only cost involved is the initial outlay on the set top box.

I'm gratified that most of you have such a low opinion of the current TV output.
I thought I must be mad.
But, of course, I am.
