Recommend a good HDV software package?

I am just getting into HDV with my new Sony camcorder. Can anybody recommend any good software that is simple to use for high definition editing?

if on a mac then final cut pro 5hd is excellent, if on pc then i believe adobe premiere pro 2.0 copes with hd

Also Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.0 has some good reviews but has a steep learning currve.

Uleads MediaStudio Pro 8.0 is worth having a look if on a budget.
