When you see some of the dodgy areas in the S.E that have been set aside for building, agreed by Prescotts minions, you would imagine there are more people with their noses in the trough. We have regular power cuts as the system is shite and cannot cope with present load, there's not enough water, the roads are full and they want to build another 800k houses!
When they build them, they are so small they make Victorian 2 up 2 down seem spacious. Although the fashion is for 2 car (at least) families, there is inadequate off street parking so the roads are impassable for anything bigger than a mini.

I'll second that.....seems soooo suspicious that they want to promote all this building of extra houses (must have made a few developers happy!!!!). Yet pure logic is screaming that the infra-structure isn't there, and would never be able to cope if as they say they are planning relief roads/extra water reservoirs at some time in the future. These relief roads and reservoirs are needed now to cope with what we have to live with at the present......

Now I just blame that stupid Robot woman Ruth Kelly who has said she is going to quadruple the efforts of this in the south east......lets quadruple the efort of putting in the infrastructure first.....

Back to Prescott, wonder if he will be running the country at the end of July when Blair is holidaying!!!!!

Norman Baker, the sleaze-busting Liberal Democrat MP, yesterday wrote to Deputy Assistant Commissioner John Yates, of the specialist crimes directorate, asking him to launch an inquiry under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Mr Yates, who is conducting an investigation into the cash-for-honours affair, received the formal request yesterday. Senior anti-fraud lawyers believe that Mr Prescott may have breached the terms of the Act, which say that ministers should not accept hospitality from a person or organisation that has obtained or is trying to obtain an official contract. They suspect Mr Prescott may have been guilty of a conflict of interest by accepting an invitation to stay at Mr Anschutz's Colorado ranch last year.

What I find depressing about Prescott's survival, and the implicit support he's getting within the party, is the possible reason. He is seen as a representative of true Labour instead of New Labour.
Things have come to a pretty desparate state if this is the case.

Prescott's survival is for a much more important reason----he and the Blessed Tony are seen as a fixture. If one goes, then the other is expected to be shifted too. And we all know how keen the Rev Bliar is to vacate the Downing Street vicarage.

I do have to wonder about the surprise expressed by some about the arrogance of Prescott in this, and previous, situation. Arrogance is something your average politician has in spades.
