Whatever did Materazzi say to ole Zizzu? !laugh!
Also I couldn't understand why -if the linesman had seen it- did it take so long for the ref to send him off? I mean, they're miked up these days.
It seems the linesman decided he 'had' seen the incident after Lippi gave him an earfull!
France were the better team & deserved to win! Pity about Zidane.....good header though !oops!

But other than that they deserved to win, is that what you're saying? !wink!

Re: world cup final
I reckon Materazzi said that after he beat him at football, he'd also kick his ass at Scrabble ... with two Z's in his nick, Zizou probably always thought himself Scrabble invincible and flipped.
Was a cracking butt though. Reminded me of Homer and Bart smacking heads with saucepans on.

Isn't it heartening how sport brings out the best in people.
But I suspect that comment is lost on you.

Oh, nice of you to presume so. :=)
As headbutts go, when someone writes their thesis on the subject (maybe you, since you're taking it so seriously), I'd hazard a guess Zizou's will go down as quite classy. An unclassy butt is a Figo style butt to the opponent's face where it might do some damage. Even when an opponent said something nasty enough about his mother/heritage/race/*fill in the blank (as will sure to be reported soon) to make Zizou flip, he vented his anger with a butt to the guy's chest. Quite an act of restraint when you've flipped enough to butt someone, I'd say.

I was referring to the remarks about the Italians.

Whatever Materazzi (probably racially motivated) said to Zidane. It worked a treat. He should now be voted player of the tournament and be made Italian president because whatever he said won Italy the World Cup. Zidane's headbutt did remind me of me in days gone past though when you could do things like that on a footie field without 20,000 cameras on you.

Ok, since you didn't quote the post you were referring to and your post came after mine, I thought your comments were directed at me. No worries.
