I have a Toshiba CRT 28W93B (28" widescreen) that is about 6 years old (I
think).
Last few days colour has been "off" and mainly showing red and blue so I
assume the green "gun" has gone (that is about the extent of my
knowledge).
Anything I can do, and is it worth repairing?
Assuming not, I am now on the look out for a new TV.
I have kept a passing interest in new TVs but was not expecting to be
buying a new one for a while.
I do not want to go too big, so 28", or maybe a little bigger.
I have an A/V amp and 6 speaker setup, and also have Sky+, and a
Panasonic DVD recorder.
If possible I want something future proof for when we go HD, but I do not
want to pay a lot.
I would rather get a "cheaper" TV now and get a better HD one in a few years.
Any comments or suggestions ?

A good forum to have a look at is
If you do need a replacement and are happy with a CRT then the 28" Goodmans GTV69RF2 is a good choice at about ?300-?350
If you do decide to go for something pricier then Hitachi's 32" LD7200 LCD panel at ?1500 is a good set with HDMI and 3 x Scarts.
For about ?800 you can pick up a Toshiba 27WL56P which is HD ready (1 x HDMI connection) but no component video input unless you connect via the PC jack.
Almost any Panasonic will be good, but pricey, and the big Pioneers are even better (but with a price tag to match).
However, if you're not fussed about HD for the moment (and who would be given the lack of HD content available... Sky HD is far too expensive for what little you can currently get and many people who pre-ordered in time for the World Cup are only now getting their STBs) you may as well wait until 2 HDMI connections are the normal specifications on smaller screens. Even some bigger, quite expensive screens currently only have one HDMI input... that's a bit like a CRT six/seven years ago only having 1 Scart!
When HD really does take off you'll need at least two HDMI connections (especially if you have a surround sound system); one for whoever is providing the HD TV content (Sky HD, Telewest/Ntl, Freeview, etc) and one for your DVD player.

Re: TV buying advice
i think its best to rent then you can keep upgrading tvs etc if your not happy.
Re: TV buying advice
Check to make sure your scart lead is firmly inserted and that its not faulty as thats one possible reason why you might lose one colour and not the others.
