In no particular order......

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill vol 2
Usual Suspects
Se7en
Shawshank Redemption
Raging Bull
The Wizard of Oz (only musical worth it's salt)
The Godfather
Scum

Unlucky not to make my top 10

Saving Private Ryan
Kill Bill vol 1
Forest Gump
Star Wars (original is more gripping, nwer versions look better obviously)
Italian Job (original obviously)
Pink Panther (definately, definately not the latest Steve Martin one! -shudder the thought-)
The Snowman (can watch this every christmas lol!)
The Godfather II
Schindler's List (I really think this should be in my top 10 actually)

I used to spend a lot of time criticizing Islam on here in the noughties - but things are much better now.

Steve if you don't have it then get yourself a copy of 'Shock! Horror!: Astounding Artwork from the Video Nasty Era '

Focuses mainly on cover artwok but is none the less excellent for info on the 'Video Nasties' era.

Should be right up your street.

Thanks Jacques.

I am familiar with that book. I think I've got pretty much all the available literature on these movies along with all the films on the original banned list.

Of course, I don't really like most of them but, having finally tracked down an uncut copy of Cannibal Holocaust many years ago, I then felt strangely compelled to complete the collection.

Indeed, I then continued and obtained many more banned horror films, just because they were banned. Thankfully, the novelty wore off eventually.

Koyaanisquatsi

i liked the film so much i bought the soundtrack. always been a big fan of philip glass anyway. top ten films, now thats a bit harder, always changes, but from what i`ve seen recently and being reminded by others in this thread i`d say

unforgiven
alien
terminator 2
lonliness of the long distance runner, which i watched a couple of weeks back
any ealing film really but if i were to pick one it would be passport to pimlico
again any film noir been a few on recently 2 that stand out for me
the narrow margin
kiss me deadly
goodfellas, didn`t see this until quite recently, a mate had been banging on about it for years and it was as good as he said it was
heaven can wait, the warren beatty version
1984, not exactly light entermainment, but fairly true to the book, as i imagined it.

if you asked me next week probably a different choice, but i`m easily pleased, i find that most films are well made, just some have that little bit extra.

Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil'????

I've not seen it yet, it's meant to be a corker and is going cheap (aren't all DVDs?) at Virgin.

I've seen it and its ok, but its more interesting to find out about all the problems with the making of the film and the many cuts it went through, sometimes Gilliams efforts to make a film are better than the film itself, you should watch Lost In La Mancha.

One film I can highly recommend of Terry Gilliams is 'Twelve Monkeys' which is just brilliant, probably the best acting performance Bruce Willis will ever give and a fantastic story, this is a must see film and is dirt cheap to buy on dvd these days.

Probably my favourite Gilliam film. Go for it.
