I've a feeling that this has been asked before, but here goes.
Where are the decent places to buy vids/dvd in Soho ?
I'm off to London soon and want to "stock up" whilst I'm there.
I lived in London for about 5 years, so I know the layout etc, but never really got to know which shops were worthwile and which were DS style rip-offs-any pointers anyone ??
where in London ??

Re: where in London ??
Ragman,
You should go to Brewer St. and shop around the half-a-dozen
or so licensed sex shops you find there. The best single shop
by far is Soho Original Videos / Books 2 (the sex shop is
in the basement and interconnects), but Soho Original
Books (another basement store), Pirate, Harmony and
even the DS outlet (Private) are fine.
Expect to pay ?20 for a single video/DVD, with discounts
for bulk buy (3 for ?50 is typical). Shop around a bit,
aided by the fact that these stores are within a couple
of hundred feet of each other. Although the stores
are similar is stock and pricing, there are odd bargains
to be had.
I would avoid the unlicensed stores, who are more likely
to rip you off price-wise and may well not give you the
title you think you are buying.

from their store fronts.

Re: where in London ??
Try Maxim's in Brewer St (assuming they're still open), but most of the guys will treat you like a human: although, as per the previous post, compare prices.
I prefer to order R18s by m/o: mail me for a reliable/discreet supplier.

Re: where in London ??
For unlicensed shops I agree Maxims is the best, but Corniche, further up Frith Street, is also reliable, and I have personally always found Little Amsterdam in Brewer Street OK.
For R18s obviously go to a licensed shop.

Re: where in London ??
Harmony is fine and there is a branch just off Brewer St.
However, it is what I would describe a 'general purpose'
sex shop, with lots of outfits, sex toys, magazines
in addition to videos.

Re: where in London ??
Theres a good Harmony outlet on Charing Cross Rd. (North) if u r in that area.
Avoid the unlicensed shops further up on Tottenham Court Road, who are very adept at ripping punters off.

Re: where in London ??
The Harmony branch by Tottenham Court tube is, IMHO, one of the best licensed sex shops around. Decent selection of movies and mags, plus helpful staff.
