Maybe being in a UK prison is like being in Butlins compared to one in Afghanistan. Who knows?

On the ball, Fred!
The hypocritical meejah- when they are not pretending that we are all 'dirty mac' brigade members try to make out we are right-wing Neanderthal men. I'm grateful that in pointing out that all the Afghans wanted was freedom from a mediaeval regime of horror that treated womenfolk as third-class citizens, we can refute that.
No-one on here thinks women are chattels? Do they?

Now that the mediaeval regime is no longer in place could it be fair to ask why these indviduals won't go back?

Re: Afghan hijackers
Nothin to do with women. They hijacked a plane which is wrong. They should be sent home, or others will see it as a reasonable way of immigration. If they wanted to change their counties views, then they should stand up and help the coalition against the Teliban, instead of hijacking planes for an easy way out.
They hijacked a plane (illegal), threatened violence for cooperation (illegal), probably flew through airspace without permission (illegal), and are now illegal immigants.

Re: Afghan hijackers
I know a few people who have done time in Dutch prisons and they get a day of the week were they can even have hookers! man that is crazy!
I agree with sam though, to make a point thathtis kind of behaviour is not tolerated they should be sent back home tomake that message clear.
next time another hijacker does it to seek political asylum they might accedentally fly a plane into Centrepoint....oopsy daisy! Wrong turn!

Re: Afghan hijackers
if UK was in the grip of a far right/far left regime, or some other crazed radical, i, too, would probably use ANY MEANS POSSIBLE to escape. These poor people did just that in order to escape persecution, and that's why the powers that be (for once) got it right when allowing them to stay. FFS, all they want to do is live in peace and work for a living. I salute their bravery and fortitude in the hope of finding justice in the tolerant west (though you wouldn't believe it reading some of the bigoted messages on this board!)

Well put. Maybe if we all 'toned down our brash Londoner' attitude it would be better here as well.
