2257
After all the trouble producers this side of the pond have to go to in collecting, keeping and making available all the information regarding 2257 records, has any British web site ever been approached by a relevant US authority to make it available for their inspection. I'm sure its been said before but 2257 isn't an attempt to bury porn production in a sea of red tape, is it? Perhaps we could introduce something similar here and not allow any US site available to us to feature models/producers who voted for George W.

I'm totally ignorant of this law. How can the U.S, force a UK based web site -on a UK server- to adhere to their laws?

If its available to US punters via a US based server, even if it originates in Europe (including here) I believe you have to comply with their arrogant extra-territorality. That was my point. Look at all the UK sites that have compliance notices. Has any of them had to answer a demand from the Feds?

Hmmm...
I can't see how they can enforce US law on a UK website. I can understand not allowing UK websites being held on US servers, if the websites don't comply with US law, but if the UK website is held on a UK/EU server I doubt they can enforce anything.
It's like the age for viewing adult material. If you have to be 21 took look at porn -in the country you're in- then they can't force UK/US websites to adhere to their specific laws.
I've no idea though, I'm only basing my posts on common sense. U.S law only applies to U.S citizens, foreigners in the U.S.A and their citizens abroad. They can't impose U.S law on a UK company, with UK employees, in the UK.

Sam,
The issue comes when you fly into the US, as your site is operating while you are there, they can and if they get the urge to, WILL arrest you, while you are in the US working as your commiting the crime there or something to that effect.
If you never plan on going to the US, then fuck the law, but you need to keep it in mind.
Its all just anither method of ensuring taxation and supression of the industry, if you ask me.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

There was the case recently with a boss of a UK-based online betting site, he was arrested on arriving in the states for breaching their laws forbidding interstate gambling and is in serious shit.
In an interview in 1968, Frank Zappa said the people had to free themselves of apathy "before America scoffs up the world and shits it out"
Guess what folks, he was right and it's happened.

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?
