Holiday On The Buses

Post by colonel »

..described by the Radio Times as 'the worst film you will see this year- or indeed, any other year'.

Well, there were glaring plot holes and the whole thing was an infomercial for Pontins at Rhyl- but I didn't expect David Lean directing Proust.

I laughed like a drain. Unlike Time Trumpet- which is going down the drain.

Yep.Lawrence of Arabia it ain't !laugh!
All very much of its time. And its' easy to forget just what colossal ratings the tv series pulled-in.Allbeit easier to do with only 3 channels .

How old was Reg Varney then btw ?
Script and budget (!whistle!) to one side,he just seemed too old 2b playing a jack-the-lad type lead.!hmmm!
You could almost imagine Robin Asquith doing it and getting more laughs.
Now there's a terrible admission.

In trying to answer my own question,I found this
http://www.deathlist.net -the forums are good fun

Oh,and the slightly more "on message" and palatable http://www.onthebusesfanclub.co.uk of course

Anyhow,it appears Reg is 90 this year (or as near as)
So he was mid 50's !

Not if you've seen "Hostel."

Reg Varney was fifty-seven when he made that atrocity.

Hostel is actually a very good movie indeed.

Please do go on! You can't leave us hanging there like that! Hostel, Green Street and Last Days....I admit it...I bought all of them and every time I pass a person collecting for charity I feel awful...thity odd quid. I have, however, grown to love Green Street.

"Please do go on! You can't leave us hanging there like that!"

Certainly.

Presumably, before you actually went out and spent good money on the DVD, you were circumspect enough to have read a number of the literally countless rave reviews this movie has received?

Well, I am pleased to be able to reassure you that all of that great multitude of people were not lying, nor were they all subject to a mass delusion. It is indeed a splendid movie.

Now that I've set your mind at ease, you can go boldly out into the street and stride purposefully right past those charity collectors, with calm self-assurance.
