Anyone got one?, I cant see the point, I just dont get it, Iv,e had /got some nice motors in me time, but never wanted to do the plate thing, well ! I suppose CUNT 1, then there are some I just cant see, like...M553 IS, you know the sort of thing.. I suppose R3PT LE would suit me, or SCAL 3Y.

Some will not be made, I remember M1 NGE was never produced according to reports.

Some of them are good - I have one myself, got it in 1993, doesn't spell anything just a prefix, a single number and my initials, it cost 240quid all-in and very happy I am with it - but I do think the continuing rise in popularity is now down to:
1) the current style of reg numbers generally look crap
2) despite manufacturers propaganda to the contrary, most newish cars (and indeed most cars in the last 10 years) look the same, so when Mr Jones has purged himself on the never-ending monthly in order to keep up with next-doors company car he feels he has to add his "own" reg plate on there to add a personal touch to his bland shopping trolley. Otherwise, who will know it's them?
3) the increased promotion and peddling of "cherished numbers" by the good old DVLA.
What makes me laugh is the pillocks that, when they change their car, leave their reg number off for a few month just so that the Jones' understand that, look at me I've got a brand new car!

I have never seen the point of them myself. Surely only for the self-deluded and those whose ego is so fragile they need to massage it themselves every now and then.
The fact that people like Jimmy Tarbuck once owned COM 1 C and Paul Daniels has MAG 1 C just shows the sort of small-minded tosser it appeals to.
I recall seeing a sporty soft-top being driven around that had a personalised plate. I can't remember the exact letters and numbers but it alluded to the owner being sexy.
The driver was a rather sad and pathetic looking woman in her 50s trying desperately to look 20 but failing miserably.

Yeah thats the sort of plonker I sometimes see, they have obviously moved the screws to make a letter from one that doesn,t exist, but I,m told thats Illegal (11) with the screw in the middle to make an H.

What about all those plates with non-standard fonts, ie as tho' they are hand written, they are illegal aren't they?. To me that is easily cured, if illegal, by banning the manufacture.
