Drug Firm looking for volunteers for tests.

Jeremy Vine doing a piece on the drug firm that turned a volunteer into the elephant man advertising for more volunteers to test their drugs on, so what? Drug Testing on humans has gone on for years and the volunteers get well paid for taking part and must know that there may be dangers involved, that is why it is well paid.

After signing the relevant disclaimers that they knew there were dangers, can't understand why they are moaning about their health now. Anyone who takes part now after all the publicity last time, will I've no doubt have a string of lawyers waiting in case something goes wrong so they (the lawyers) can make a few bob.

If you go into anything of your own free will knowing there are dangers, live with it. I do not of course (before anyone starts) condone the medical tests carried out on service personnel during the 50's which resulted in cancers, they didn't have a choice but were ordered to take part.

Yes, to a certain degree you get well paid. It depends on what medical trials you are taking part in.

I was on one of these medical trials back in the early 90's. I got about ?650.00 for 3 weeks worth of testing. That entailed taking 2 tablets a day, for about 4 days, each week of the tests. Then regular "blood donations" for testing of the results the tablets had had on our systems, & not doing anything else, cept sat in bed reading, or the sofa's watching videos (quite often Hardcore Porn).

There were various screening procedures you had to go through first, then a Full Medical, & then the obligatory disclaimers, which were long-winded Lawyer-like Jargonised documents, but also very explicit in what side effects MIGHT happen.

Heard later that the rate was ?1250 for 8 days, not bad money for sitting in bed, with laptops, watching porn.

Ahh, yeah, as I said previously, it depends on what the drug trials were for, some are cheap, some are really well paid, others are high earners.
