o/t but need help

next month my server, netscape online, is closing down would appreciate any suggestions as to a new server. they suggested aol and have a 3 month free trial thing going on but i've heard they are donkey-wank, problem with all this is that i have a cable phone line. am at present on the penny-a-minute thing and all my bills are within reason so a similar server is acceptable. any ideas fellas greatly appreciated

I'm on AOL, fixed rate per month and no hidden charges. There are no time restrictions that I have come up against, and have had no problems other than it slowing down visibly on occasion, but there are so many possible causes for this, that it is unfair to blame the server exclusively. Dial-up connection, too.

But if you have NTL you might look at their broadband service? It's now a pound cheaper than AOL at ?14.99 for 128kbps access with no other charges (except installation fee).

I would certainly go for braodband if I were you. Barely more expensive than dail-up and a lot faster. If you do go that route, remember you will need a NIC (Network Interface Card) to allow you to connect your PC to the modem. Most companies will install one for you if needs be, but they overcharge for the service - as much as ?60,and since they cost less than ?10, I would either do it yourself or get a mate to help.
