Re: train sets.
That old Hornby shit is worth a fortune nowadays.
My old man was an avid collector of that and die-cast model shit.
I remember I could look, but not touch........my apprenticeship for frequenting lap dancing clubs !wink!

also interested in old railway stations underground and over ground white city is being rebuilt i read.
Re: train sets.
I much prefer the old style train stations with their architecture compared to all the modern bollocks you see.
Luckily, where I live has an old fashioned station, albeit, modern facilities, and is totally ruined with a new platform serving Birmingham which is totally modern with those wanky stainless steel seats and floor to ceiling glass windows.
The station that winds me up most in London is Paddington, fucking freezing all the time with every other stand selling Paddington Bear shite, and the cups of tea? Don't even start me on THAT!!

Re: train sets.
Ooh, I quite like Paddington Station.
btw - You should see what they've done to Manchester Piccadilly in recent years. It's now a multi-tiered shopping centre in which actually finding the trains takes some doing. A few shops is understandable, but this is both ridiculous and depressing.

Re: train sets.
1970s Hornby is quite common, its the pre-1960 stuff thats worth its weight. Check on ebay for comparisons, but you will get better prices at those wanky model fairs.
