I read Dave was annoyed even up till today that his voice was dubbed with James Earl Jones voice instead of his Briz-tol accent ala Farmer Palmer.
Lucas, on this occasion was right with that move

No offence to Dave but who wouldve taken Lord Vader serious with a voice like that? Even the stormtroopers wouldve fallen about laughing.

He needed the boming stentorian voice of Jim Jones...Sorry, James Earl Jones...Now thats a name worthy of that voice.
