Re: Sex Crimes and the Vatican
So it's now "PC" to expose child abuse? You think that priests suddenly stopped fucking children after the 1970s?

How do you know this?

Well of course it is, because abuse often doesn't get detected until children grow up and make complaints against their abusers. Child abuse has always been endemic and tolerated in the Catholic Church, but you don't seem to think it's a problem... what's your evidence that it stopped? Why do you think it's PC to go after paedophiles?

Re: Sex Crimes and the Vatican
I'm totally with "strictlybroadband" on this one.
It doesn't matter when the abuse was carried out, it was still carried out and the priests who did it have not been called to account for their actions and have been actively sheltered by the Roman Catholic church, who themselves have not come out and condemded any priest proven to have commited acts of child abuse.
We still go after war criminals after 20-30 years, so why the hell is it OK to forget Paedophiles, whose crimes leave their victims as emotionally scarred as anyone who was on the receiving end of a war crime.

Some people will sink to any depth to have a go at so-called PC-ness. Thats pretty despicable.

I tend to agree with what you say Mart. It is irrelavent how long ago the abuse took place and if sufficient evidence exists they should be prosecuted if still alive. Nevertheless if the allegations are 20 or 30 years old the CPS will need to weigh up whether the evidence is strong enough to be likely to secure a conviction.
