A European directive known as "television without frontiers" threatens the freedom of V.O.D. Those in the industry should make plans now to move their servers out of Europe in case the new directive threatens their freedom to broadcast. The same old reasons are given including "the protection of children."

Re: European directive threatens V.O.D
Well given that the current version has been incorrectly implemented I for one can't wait to see what they do with this version.
The TVWF Directive has two main objectives: to protect fundamental public interest objectives in terms of TV content and programming and the free movement of TV broadcasting within the EU. To do this, th TVWF Directive sets minimum standards on the rules members states must impose on TV services which they authorise. The TVWF Deirective also requires member states do not restrict the retransmission of TV programming originating in other EU states on the provisio that it meets TVWF Directive rules. This then creates a single market in the EU TV industry.
What Ofcon have done is to disregard the TVWF Directive rules and have created an isolated market actively excluding`EU strength` adult channels from being carried by domestic cable and satellite services. That is against the stated objectives of TVWF and affects fundamental public interests such as Freedom of Expression with regard to TV broadcasting.
Like I said I can't wait to see what they do......

It's going to be "interesting" but I'm not sure where else we'd put our servers! The US is no longer the "land of the free" (if it ever was) - where else would you suggest?
I don't think member countries need to implement the directive till 2010... correct me if I'm wrong.
