Cheap DVD recorders

Post by Ace »

Without you lot flaming me for being a cheap bastard, I am thinking of getting a 'basic' DVD recorder as the missus has taken my Panasonic Gucci model for the shite that she NEVER misses on TV.
I see Alba and Bush do a reasonable model at around ?60-70 but only records DVD+
At ASDA, they have their ONN brand at ?80-ish that does DVD+/-, BUT I had one of their ONN toasters that is pretty hit-and-miss at the best of times.
So, Alba, Bush or anything around this price...........I'm leaning towards BUSH.........as I always have !wink!

Personally I'd look at Richer Sounds online. You might pay a few quid more but you'll get excellent service and a whole lot more for your cash.

I tried going the cheap route myself. Ended up taking it back to Comet yesterday and getting my money back.

And then I went and spent even more somewhere else on a nice Sony that records and plays back ALL formats. The Samsung I tried would burn DVDs that I then couldn't play on any of my other kit.

The lesson: you get what you pay for!

How much you willing to spend? I`ll look out the website I got mine from, fairly cheap, plus its a multi region and handles enhanced region coding.I`ve saved about ?30 per box set getting the CSI dvd box sets from America.

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.

In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

If it supports both formats & is multi region (-r & +r) your laughing, (just steer clear from real pony stuff like bush & alba) I bought a Panasonic when it first came out, cost me over a grand, and it was shit, most brand names mean fuck all as most of them are made at the same place anyway, I've a Tevion one, only supports +r, cost less than ?100, I gave my Panasonic away in the end, as it was gonna cost silly money to sort out, if your recording of tv its easy to make your own dvds on your pc with either format,

When it comes to quality of recording the main stream brands generally give a better result.
Cheapest OK for basic timeshifting but for archiving or recording from DV go for Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony.
As an example Samsung 7400 has only half bandwidth of my Pioneer, which is almost 3 years old and always been happy with results.
