Christmas Lights

Post by planeterotica »

With all this concern over global warming and constantly being told that we must do more to conserve energy should people go green and refrain from putting up Christmas lights, in the next few weeks millions will go up in homes and stores and in streets in towns and cities throughout the country, if global warming is such a threat then maybe local authorities should set an example and refrain from doing so, or am i just being a miserable old scrooge!sad!

How about having a 2 week break where everybody uses public transport once a year.

Noise levels would decrease significantly (good for stress levels)
Pollution would decrease significantly (good for asthmatics & eczema)
Police, Ambulance & Fire services could get to people faster (less death/crime)
It would make up for Christmas pollution levels due to excessive lighting!

Ok, I know public transport wouldn't cope, but there's nothing wrong with the idea!

A great idea, but the public transport system would have to be improved considerably, particularly for those of us who don't work office hours or in town/city centre locations.

Hopefully, the OTT Christmas lights brigade will cut back on the "my garden as an airport landing strip" mentality.

I doubt it, round my way they have competitions to try and out do each other, it all looks very nice and the kids love it but you are right it is a bitOTT but the local chambers of comerce are just as bad with each area tryng to go one better than the others and getting celebs to switch the lights on, never had all this years ago and im sure people enjoyed Christmas more than they do now!love!

That would indeed seem to be the case.
