My vote out of that lot would probably be Attenborough, due to his non stop energy & commitment over such a long period. He's put himself in dangerous places most of the others in the list would shy away from, and helped educate the masses in the process. I'm not just talking of British viewers either.

However, if someone asked me who'd be remembered most as an icon in 100 years time, I'd say McCartney obviously.

Attenbrough for me too. I detest Morrissey with a passion, his music is pathetic and he still thinks we are living under Mrs T! Macca is a tosser, only billionaire with a real chip on both shoulders.

Personally I would have added Peter Alliss, Judi Dench, Jo Guest and Bernard Manning to the list!

What the blazes is Kate Moss doing on that list? I suppose she does embody the times in which we live as far of being "famous" for doing nothing more than being a druggie, helping to convince women that having a normal body shape is wrong and poor mother.

I agree with you all on Attenbrough.

But Heaven Knows, I'm Miserable Now........... I voted Mozza. Not an informed choice, but despite him being an awkward prickly arsepiece (he would probably take that as a compliment), I enjoyed his work with The Smiths immensely and loved his concert at the SECC on Saturday night. So I voted with my heart, not my head.

Attenbrough deserves it, most of his acheivements are off his own back....... McCartney's phenomenal success as a Beatle is attributable to his partnership with Lennon just as Morrissey's success with The Smiths is hugely influenced by the contribution of Johnny Marr; both had varying degrees of success solo, Morrissey, IMHO as a solo artist (despite having trouble reaching out commercially and musically beyond his fanbase), having a greater impact on the cultural landscape of his time.
