I have to agree with Mike. I wouldnt agree with Saddams way of running his country...but then i wouldnt tell my neighbours I dont like the colour of their car either. That shocking Pac Man yellow unnerves me. Ok, I'm being hypothetical. My neighbour doesnt really have a bright yellow car bit I hope you get my meaning.
I'm convinced America loves to bully other countries under the guise of it being some knight in shining armour. Give me a break. They didnt even give a hoot about their own people during Hurricane Katrina....I bet if there was a lot of oil at stake the outcome wouldve been different....and last I looked, theres not many Iraqis that are white if that was in the back of anyones mind.
Lets be really honest. Do you really think that Bush gave a hoot about how Saddam ran his country? Especially in the land where most americans dont even know where Iraq is in the first place.
It took some one I know to send me some footage from a tv show to see this in effect. Some of the americans were pointing out to Australia as Iraq!
So in effect, in their mind, the enemy of their country comes from a very big bad place in their minds. I would have thought this was extremely funny had it not been so sad.

I admit that Saddam is guilty of torture but then in wartime history informs us that many nations and rulers have been guilty of this heinous practice even the British and Americana. What I am saying that in wartime many nations have been guilty of barbaric practices.

Re: COME BACK SADDAM ALL IS FORGIVEN
You agree that genocidal leader like Saddam should be forgiven? So all the Shia & Kurdish families who were tortured & poisoned to death don't matter?
It pisses me off that George W Bush is only thinking of Oil & restructuring contracts. It pisses me off that Americans are so fucking ignorant that they think Oz is North Korea, Tasmania is South Korea, France & Italy are within the 'circle of evil' and the only country beginning with 'U' is Utah. (yes I've seen the 'stupid americans' clips too.)
But what also pisses me off is when people say one genocidal atrocity is more worthy than another. Reading these threads we've had Keith & C.J. shaming people on the 'Hitler's Forgiven' thread, and probably missed the sarcasm, and yet agreeing about Saddam being forgiven. I mean, what the fuck? Saddam massacred his own people, and not just in wartime. Mike has mentioned that he only killed people who were trying to kill him. -i.e. political opposition-, but how does the political opposition try to gain power if there are no democratic elections, no freedom of speech, and death to such opposing people?
Ok Hitler killed many more people than what Saddam has done, but were we then wrong in ousting Slobodan Milosevic? Was Milosevic any worse than Saddam? Were Kosovan lives worth more than Kurdish/Shia lives? It's bullshit. Mike -and many others- are against the current war which is their point of view, but to forgive genocide -and ask for it's returning madman- is fucking weird....................and shameful.

Sam,
Muslims torture to their men and women who breach Sharia law? Stoning to death or amputation. You can't rule a country that has no history of democracy by democratic law.
All I am saying is that Saddam kept law and order in a difficult situation and his Iraq was more civilised than the one that exists now

I agree that the country was a safer place (if you were a Saddam supporter or foreigner) but I wouldn't say 'safer' and 'civilised' mean the same thing. Is it more civilised to have a fairer democratically elected government with lots of militant fighters killing one another, or a more peaceful nation who were only peaceful because their dictatorial leader would kill and torture them -and sometimes their family- so they'd keep a low profile?
Whichever you think is the more civilised option, to forgive Saddam, and want his return, is plain wrong in my opinion.

Well Hi Ya Doin Sam! I was only agreeing with him in principle. I don't agree with the way he ruled AT ALL and I'm sure you know we (the US) backed him against the Iranians back in the early 1980s (I think) so he is no better than Ronald Reagan, G. Bush Sr., or G. Bush Jr. I whatn't trying to make ya mad!

I get ya c.j! No worries !happy!.......I wasn't mad, just a little annoyed that people thought a mass murderer should be forgiven....lol.
My general opinion on the Iraqi war is that we're doing the right and just thing, we've just gone about it the wrong way.
