I also believe the original was shot in 3-D.
Those B-movies in the 50s really were something, eh?

IIRC, a good bit of this movie or a sequel was shot inthe St John's River, which is about a mile from my house.

Well Ace. What more can I say with the venerated Stan Winston walking this earth and technolgy being what it is the should do a damn sight better than the original but then again it depends who is at the helm directing....Look at Godzilla. They turned that into Shitzilla!

A lot of classic movies made today like A L I E N are modern day equivalents to B movies so I dont see any reason why they shouldnt do this justice.

The director is a bit of a hack, sahara was awful. But, a lot of directors on their first studio movie can get pushed around a bit. Hopefully he's taken his lessons and makes a much stronger picture with this one.

The screenwriter is a bit of an odd choice, talented writer no doubt, but you wouldn't automatically think of the writer of the slow paced seabiscuit and pleasentville for this type of b-movie horror. But like I said, he's talented so the screenplay might be all kinds of good.

I heard Universal are trying to bring back all their b-movie monster characters back.
