There's no disagreement on that score. Murder used to carry a life sentence, and that now can be five to seven years if there are no additional charges. There will always be cases where extenuating circumstances should be considered. But premeditated murder should be a life sentence. Sexual attacks on children should receive life sentences. A second rape conviction should receive a life sentence.

It'd be nice to believe redemption exists, but few of those who take life seem to regret their actions.

These women were pretty regardless of how they lived. I found it strange that though two of the women were found naked they weren't sexually assaulted. And just as I'm typing this the news said that the brit investigaters think that maybe more than one person could be doing the killing. It was rather telling that all the bodies were found within a short distance of the main road in the area. Although the police are keeping an open mind, it's either one person or two or more working as a team. And the proximity of that road suggests it may be Viz's usual suspect, a lorry driver.
