When The Levees Broke

Post by strictlybroadband »

Spike Lee's film on Hurricane Katrina was on BBC4 Mon and Tue this week. I watched the first part on Monday and it was a stunning and shocking documentary. Was looking forward to the second part last night, but the power went out on our street so I missed it! I guess I'll have to wait till it's run again on BBC2 or something, unless it's downloadable from somewhere?

Did anyone watch it?

Sorry I haven't seen it yet but I've heard it was a great movie and I've heard him in some interview clips. African American talk radio is still talking about it and it ain't a forgotten issue here.

Just wondering, C.J. what do you think of George 'Dubya' Bush, and all his cronies in the White House? I mean we here on the other side of the pond all have our opinions here, and as you would expect they tend to be pretty negative to say the least.
I don't know if you've heard of the Saturday Night live writer and sometime comedian, Al Franken, but if you haven't, check his books out.
Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot.
Lies and the lying liars who tell them.
The truth with jokes.
Needless to say he's not a pal of George.
Oh, and having the misfortune to watch 'Fox News', what a bunch of thick arseholes.
We hope that New Orleans gets back to its former glory, I for one has always wanted to visit 'The Big Easy' having been a fan of its music and and culture ever since I was kid.
Merry christmas 'Y'all!

Those people were left to rot purely because there is no votes in them. The average redneck american couldn't give a stuff if these people died, and redneck american numbskull's are what got bush elected. It's a fucking disgrace.

I was watching C.B.S. news the other week, there was an article about Europe, and I kid you not, the news announcer stated that Salzburg was in Italy! they even showed it on a map... I was in half a mind to get on their website and point out they could do with a few geography lessons.
It was late and the wine I had consumed was far too effective though...

What Up Stripeysydney! Well I don't claim to speak for ALL of America but as an African American speaking for African Americans most of us are disgusted with him and even though WE Afros voted for the democrats we ain't too hopeful that things will get done the way we think. Al Franken is the best. He has a radio show that comes on here and on the internet I believe called Air America. And as far as New Orleans is concerned? Believe me when I tell you and I don't know what Spike Lee said about it, but the word is blacks won't be welcome back and they are making sure of that by a number of factors. Fox News. It is on the side of the republicans. Don't watch it! They lie ALOT!

What Bush and Co did to New Orleans was shameful, CJ, but typical of the man. Oh, and you don't need to warn us about Fox News. We know all about its lying ways.

Like most of Spike's work it's a beautifully made film. But see in two parts because it's long.

BTW CJ, ever heard of Reginald D Hunter? He's a black American comedian who moved to the UK and IMHO he's the funniest man in Britain at the moment. I'm going to see his London show tonight, "Pride, Prejudice and Niggas". He was banned from advertising it on the underground because of the title. !happy!

The name sounds familiar but at this time I can't say I know of him. I'll do a search on him and get back with ya.
