The only problem I have with it all is the consistancy of sentences.
For example. A bloke local to my area walked into a pub and shot another geezer in the head and literally blew half his head off. His motive? The bloke had just started a relationship with his ex-wife, a marriage that had ended some five years previous and was long gone.
He got a life sentence and was told he had to serve a minimum of 15 years.
Ok the crimes aren't exactly the same but they are similar in that they're cold blooded murders by shooting.
But why does one crime mean 35 years and a similar crime 15 years?
Is society saying that a policwomans life is more valuable than a member of Joe Public? Probably by this judgement.
To me they are all as equally valuable.
Oh and before anybody thinks I'm going soft on the cop killers. It's the 15 year sentence that I think is to lenient and not the 35 being to severe.

I agree with what you say about the sentences Benny,are we expected to despise these people more because they killed a cop?? What these scumbags did was terrible but the way the media gets all gooey eyed just because it was a policewoman is totally overboard. If it had been someone sleeping in the gutter who had got murdered it probably wouldn't have got mentioned.

The policewoman was doing her job and in her duty protecting people like you and I in their everyday lives.

I know this is emotive subject to you mate as I think you said in previous posts that you're married to a copper.
However if it was a female security guard that was blown away then it would have been nowhere near 35 years.
To me a life is precious and should be treated the same whether that be a policewoman or a tramp living on the streets.
As I said in my previous post it's the 15 years that I'm more against than the 35 years so maybe somewhere in between is about right.
