Swap Shop 30th Anniversary

Post by Snowy »

REALLY enjoyed the look back at children's Saturday morning TV on the BBC since 1976.
I loved 'Swap Shop' and never missed it, although I did occasionally get up from the armchair (no remotes in those days!) to switch over to ITV and catch some of the anarchic goings-on on 'Tiswas', notably the infamous Phantom Flan Flinger and Trevor McDoughnut.
It was great to see Maggie Philbin, Sarah Greene and Emma Forbes again - and I have to say they are looking better than they did way back then!
Anyway, I've got 'Tank Command' and a Raleigh Chopper Mk II bike and I'd like to swap them for...
Excellent entertainment all round, and plenty of great nostalgia for a nearly 40-year-old!!! !thumbsup!

Bring back Trevor and Simon I say!

Good to see Five Star get what they deserved! The looks on their faces.....

A brilliant night. Sarah Greene and Emma Forbes are still stunning and Maggie P looks much better now than she did years ago. The overly tattooed and skinny Ferne Cotton looked poor compared to her predecessors. Add in Dani and Zoe and there must have been countless young boys battering away on Saturday mornings!

Finally seeing the Five Star clip after all these years made my night. I too was watching Tiswas that morning and heard about it from a girl at school the next Monday. In those pre-Internet days, she told me they had sworn at Sarah Greene in a personal capacity, and it was on the Internet that I found out the truth.

Brave of the Beeb to show the clip too. The programme was made by Unique Television Group for the BBC- hence its chairman as host.

My favourite Saturday morning presenter was Katy Hill, she made me get up on Sat mornings in more ways that one!!!
