Re: Perfect Parents
You dont need a tv programme to tell you that. Just ask any godbotherer about Jesus loving you then rattle off a list of crimes committed by christians to non believers throughout history and watch as they try to remain calm...
Some of the biggest two faced peopl eI've ever known in my life were christians. Thats not to say there arent any good ones though. I know some damn fine people doing 'the lords work' for free over in places like India. I even know one who gave up her time on Christmas day to help feed the poor in London. Having a big heart isnt indigenous to just christians it seems.

It was Christian pressure that was the main opposition of the slave trade, with Britain taking the lead. Christian workers have been aiding Africa, South America, India and Indonesia for hundreds of years before Mr Geldoff took the glory.
Religious people always seem a bit weird to me, but they're not all bad.

Get a grip, it was a bloody play, not a documentary.

It was indeed largely religious pressure that rid the Empire of slavery, but it was the same fervour that went hand in hand with colonial expansion; educating the godless natives whilst appropriating their land.

I think that was a secondary to expanding the empire. I'd say money was the main motive.

Yeah but that's only half the story, everyone was religious in those days. Slave owners went to church just as piously as anti-slavery campaigners.
